Statistical mechanics approach to 1-bit compressed sensing

چکیده
Compressed sensing is a framework that makes it possible to recover an N-dimensional sparse vector x ∈ R N from its linear transformation y ∈ R M of lower dimensionality M < N. A scheme further reducing the data size of the compressed expression by using only the sign of each entry of y to recover x was recently proposed. This is often termed the 1-bit compressed sensing. Here we analyze the typical performance of an l 1-norm based signal recovery scheme for the 1-bit compressed sensing using statistical mechanics methods. We show that the signal recovery performance predicted by the replica method under the replica symmetric ansatz, which turns out to be locally unstable for modes breaking the replica symmetry, is in a good consistency with experimental results of an approximate recovery algorithm developed earlier. This suggests that the l 1-based recovery problem typically has many local optima of a similar recovery accuracy, which can be achieved by the approximate algorithm. We also develop another approximate recovery algorithm inspired by the cavity method. Numerical experiments show that when the density of nonzero entries in the original signal is relatively large the new algorithm offers better performance than the abovementioned scheme and does so with a lower computational cost.

Bayesian signal reconstruction for 1-bit compressed sensing
The 1-bit compressed sensing framework enables the recovery of a sparse vector x from the sign information of each entry of its linear transformation. Discarding the amplitude information can significantly reduce the amount of data, which is highly beneficial in practical applications. In this paper, we present a Bayesian approach to signal reconstruction for 1-bit compressed sensing, and analy...
متن کاملStatistical mechanics analysis of thresholding 1-bit compressed sensing
The one-bit compressed sensing (1bit CS) framework aims to reconstruct a sparse signal by only using the sign information of its linear measurements. To compensate for the loss of scale information, past studies in the area have proposed recovering the signal by imposing an additional constraint on the l 2-norm of the signal. Recently, an alternative strategy that captures scale information by ...
متن کاملA Block-Wise random sampling approach: Compressed sensing problem
The focus of this paper is to consider the compressed sensing problem. It is stated that the compressed sensing theory, under certain conditions, helps relax the Nyquist sampling theory and takes smaller samples. One of the important tasks in this theory is to carefully design measurement matrix (sampling operator). Most existing methods in the literature attempt to optimize a randomly initiali...
متن کاملNoisy 1-Bit Compressed Sensing Embeddings Enjoy a Restricted Isometry Property
We investigate the sign-linear embeddings of 1-bit compressed sensing given by Gaussian measurements. One can give short arguments concerning a Restricted Isometry Property of such maps using Vapnik-Chervonenkis dimension of sparse hemispheres. This approach has a natural extension to the presence of additive white noise prior to quantization. Noisy one-bit mappings are shown to satisfy an RIP ...
متن کاملSparse Diffusion Steepest-Descent for One Bit Compressed Sensing in Wireless Sensor Networks
This letter proposes a sparse diffusion steepestdescent algorithm for one bit compressed sensing in wireless sensor networks. The approach exploits the diffusion strategy from distributed learning in the one bit compressed sensing framework. To estimate a common sparse vector cooperatively from only the sign of measurements, steepest-descent is used to minimize the suitable global and local con...
